A First Holy Communion luncheon brings together three or four generations around one table, and the food has to work for all of them. At Adelphia Weddings in Deptford, our banquet menus give families several ways to plan for a mixed age group, with a dedicated children's menu alongside a full adult program. We are located at 1750 Clements Bridge Road, just minutes from Cherry Hill and Philadelphia.

How the Menu Can Come Together for a First Holy Communion Luncheon at a Deptford, NJ Venue

The meal is the centerpiece of the afternoon. Choosing the right format means giving adults real options while making sure the younger guests are equally taken care of. Here is how the menu program at Adelphia Weddings comes together for this kind of occasion.

Start With Whether You Want Hors d'Oeuvres Before Lunch

Displayed Hors d'Oeuvres can be served before the main meal. Options include fresh tomatoes with mozzarella, basil, and balsamic glaze, seasonal fresh fruit, assorted gourmet cheese display, and antipasto. Individual items can be offered as displayed or butlered service, with selections like spinach and feta phyllo triangles, coconut chicken tenders with pineapple cilantro sauce, and bruschetta pomodoro.

For events without Hors d'Oeuvres, soup or a first course is served within 45 minutes of the event start.

Build the Main Luncheon Menu

Our banquet luncheon runs from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM for parties of 18 or more. The meal opens with fresh-baked bread and butter and a garden salad. Caesar or Greek salad enhancements and a pasta course can be added. You choose three entrées served with a vegetable and potato of the day, selecting from options like chicken marsala with prosciutto and mushrooms, grilled salmon with olive oil and lemon butter sauce, chicken parmigiana with mozzarella and tomato sauce, and prime rib au jus. Special entrées are available at an additional fee based on individual needs.

For groups that prefer a buffet format, the Special Occasion Buffet requires a minimum of 50 guests and opens with fresh-baked bread and butter, soup du jour, and a garden salad. It includes steam table options like veal marsala, baked crab cakes, grilled chicken, and meatballs marinara, with a pasta selection and two sides chosen by the host. The buffet also includes a Carving Board section with options such as Prime Roast Sirloin and Boneless Breast of Turkey.

Keep Younger Guests in Mind

The children's menu for ages 10 and under includes chicken fingers and French fries, grilled cheese and French fries, hamburger and French fries, cheese ravioli, Penne Marinara & Meatball, penne with butter, and cheeseburger and French fries. It keeps younger guests comfortable without requiring a separate arrangement.

Finish With Dessert and a Few Practical Planning Details

Assorted cookies and biscotti are included as the base dessert. Add-on options include a sweet table assortment of mini pastries, a candy bar in six varieties with optional color coordination, and vanilla ice cream. Adelphia Weddings can provide cakes or additional desserts for a fee. The menus also include cake among the dessert enhancements. If you are bringing in a custom communion cake from an outside bakery, a cutting fee applies. Candy buffets from outside vendors are not permitted.

On the planning side, semi-private spaces start at 18 guests and include white linen tablecloths. Private rooms accommodate between 50 and 175 guests, depending on the space, and come with ivory linen tablecloths. Napkin colors include white, ivory, black, red, light pink, royal blue, hunter green, and gold. Outside linens and charger plates are not permitted, though specialty linens are available at an additional fee.
